The Race is On: Turkey Seeks Formula 1 Comeback as Madrid 2026 Bid Remains Uncertain

Turkish Grand Prix organizers are willing to host a Formula 1 race in 2026 if the new Madrid track is not completed on time, as announced on the 10th of June.

The Madrid circuit, Madring, is facing opposition and doubts about its completion by the scheduled race date of 13th September, leading to the possibility of Istanbul Park filling in.

The Istanbul Park circuit is eager to make a comeback to the F1 calendar permanently, following its recent stints in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic.

The Turkish Automobile Sports Federation president aims for a long-term F1 contract, backed by the government, to bring the Turkish Grand Prix back.

Turkey’s government officials support the project, ensuring state-backed guarantees for the race and smooth organization under the Federation’s management.
